Woman of the Year – Startup Practice

Open to women working in a UK accountancy practice of less than £1m turnover.


Woman of the Year – Independent Practice

Open to women working in a UK accountancy practice of between £1m and £3m turnover.


Woman of the Year – Mid-Tier Practice

Open to women working in a UK accountancy practice of between £3m and £25m turnover.


Woman of the Year – National Practice

Open to women working in a UK accountancy practice of more than £25m.


Woman of the Year – Global Practice

Open to women working in one of the ‘top six’ accountancy practices.


Contribution to Gender Diversity Award - Practice

Open to UK accounting practices that have implemented a project, initiative or wider changes through innovation to promote gender diversity within their business or sector.

Individual Excellence

Woman of the Year Award

Open to women whose overall achievements and work within the UK accountancy profession has helped raise the profile of the sector as a career for women either through education, training, leadership, mentoring or acting as a role model. The award is not specific to any particular role, but the nominee must be able to demonstrate their influence in attracting and/or retaining women into the sector.

Female Diversity Champion of the Year

Open to women working within the UK accountancy profession who not only mentor women but who champion diversity within the industry. She will be a role model and leader, and someone who has used her position to help set up initiatives and spread positive messages aimed at helping to achieve equality in the workplace and across the market.


Male Diversity Champion of the Year

Open to men working within the UK accountancy profession who not only mentor women but who champion diversity within the industry. He will be a role model and leader, and someone who has used his position to help set up initiatives and spread positive messages aimed at helping to achieve equality in the workplace and across the market.

Woman of the Year - Technician

Open to AAT- or ATT-qualified women whose work has helped raise the profile of the sector as a career for women either through education, training, leadership, mentoring or acting as a role model.

Role Model of the Year

Open to women in the UK accountancy profession who have helped inspire others to fulfil their potential and achieve excellence in the workplace. This is applicable for women in practice, business or the third sector.

Leader of the Year

Open to women in the UK accountancy profession who head up a team and can demonstrate excellence in leadership, communication and vision. This is applicable for women in practice, business or the third sector.

Inspiration Award

Open to women in the UK accountancy profession who have made an impact in their role in difficult or challenging circumstances. This is applicable for women in practice, business or the third sector.

Rising Star Award

Open to women in the UK accountancy profession who have made a strong impact in a short space or time and are most likely to progress further. There is no age limit and candidates can be qualified or part-qualified (see eligibility criteria above for more details). Nominees must have worked in the profession for less than three years on 1 November 2019. Candidates can come from practice, business or the third sector.

Outstanding Achievement

In recognition of a woman who has risen to the top of the career ladder and is an inspiration to future female leaders with an accountancy background.

Open to women in the UK accountancy profession who serve in the public or voluntary sector.

These awards, added onto our existing list, will recognise the inspirational achievements and challenges faced by women providing accountancy and related services (eg. tax, audit, accounting, payroll, bookkeeping). Eligibility covers women outside of ACCA; ICAEW; ICAS; CAI; CIPFA); CIMA; JIEB-qualified (insolvency); or CIOT membership.
